Several businesses, including Gap, Adidas, and Balenciaga, have severed ties with the rapper in response to West’s recent antisemitic comments. After the business deals fell through, Forbes delisted West from its list of billionaires.

According to NBC, Yeezy Apparel, which West reportedly manages and owns, owes the state of California more than $600,000 in unpaid taxes, as evidenced by a number of state tax lien notices gathered over the previous two years.

A lien occurs when a claim is made against the assets of a person or an organization because of an alleged debt.

The rapper’s company received notice letters three times, in July 2021, February 2022, and September 2022, according to NBC.

Liens can be imposed “if a company or taxpayer does not respond to their letters about taxes owed, pay in full, or set up a payment plan,” according to the state’s government website.

Yeezy Apparel has been in business since 2017, according to public California business records, and declared itself to be in “good standing” in a January annual filing, according to NBC.

However, knowing West, he won’t remain silent for very long. West and the Yeezy brand representatives have not yet commented on the recent announcement. A response is expected to follow shortly.
